Marvin C. Renfroe, age 89 and Bartlesville resident, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at his home.
Marvin Renfroe was born on January 16, 1929 in Lenapah, Oklahoma. He was the son of George O’Dell Renfroe and Letta (Adair) Renfroe. He grew up and received his education in the Bartlesville area.
Marvin and Ellen Olander Russell were married in Bartlesville where they made their home. They were the parents of five children. Ellen preceded Marvin in death and he continued his home in Bartlesville.
Marvin and Louise Trent were united in marriage, and she, also, preceded him in death.
Marvin later married Helen Louise (Lampton) Younger in 2002 and they made their home in Bartlesville. On December l2, 2013, Helen preceded Marvin in death. Marvin had continued his residence in Bartlesville since that time.
Marvin was a longtime member of Greater First Baptist Church where he was active in many areas of the church, including serving as a deacon. For many years, Marvin was employed with the Bell Telephone Company as a telephone service man. After he retired from the telephone company, Marvin was self-employed in the lawn care business.
Survivors include son, Curtis Wayne Riley and his wife, Lillie Riley, of San Jose, California; five grandchildren, Curtis Wayne Riley, Jr., and his wife, Sandy, of Newark, California, Leroy Donnie Little of Bartlesville, Kanisha Turay and her husband, Abu, of San Jose, Cedric Chambers of San Jose, and Danny Newton of Bartlesville; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Ellen Olander Russell Renfroe, Louise Trent Renfroe and Helen Louise Lampton Younger Renfroe; and children, Alvester, Frances, Wilma and Raycharles.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Marvin’s memory may be made to the Greater First Baptist Church, 216 S.W. 10th St., Bartlesville, OK 74003.
Come and go visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Family will be present to greet friends on Friday from 6-8:00 PM.
Services for Marvin will be held on Saturday, December 1, at 11:00 AM, in the Greater First Baptist Church. Rev. Victor A. Paul, pastor of the church, will be the officiant. Interment will follow the service in White Rose Cemetery.
