Condolences

Condolence From: Connie Hall
Condolence: Debbie & family - I was so sad to hear about your father. The Transcript had such a nice article, I know I would have enjoyed meeting him. You all have been in my thoughts and prayers so much during this sad time. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the service tomorrow, but please know that again, you will be in my prayers. Connie

Condolence From: Barry Denney
Condolence: Micki, I am so sorry about Jim's passing even though I know he is not suffering now and I know that if there is a heaven, he is in it. He was such a great, humble, caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. I am sure he will continue to live in your life and in the hundreds of others like me that he touched. I hope you can let the great memories just wash over you, including that laughter and light heartedness he bought to all of us.

Condolence From: Judge Barry Denney
Condolence: Jim and Micki are members of our church and when I decided to run for judge in Delaware County 11 1/2 years ago, Jim asked if he could help. Boy, did he! He helped me understand the important things about advertising and designed a really great flyer. He designed several newspaper ads and eliminated the worry of when those ads had to be to the papers by driving to all the papers we placed ads in, every time we placed ads. He never missed a deadline.
His help was invaluable in winning that election and then again 3 years ago when I had an opponent. But when I think back about those times, I realize that all he did for me in those election campaigns didn't have nearly the impact on me as the warmth both he and Micki showed me. I was always welcome in their home, whether we were working on a flyer or just dropping off a picture. He had so many great stories about his experiences as a sports writer but was just as interested in my family and life experiences. His grin, laughter, and pure joy for life really were infectuous. Sitting and talking with Jim and Micki, looking from their home onto Grand Lake and sipping the tea Micki always had available provided such a respite in what were otherwise rather tumultuous times in my life. Thank you Jim and Micki for so much more than just helping me achieve my life's ambition.

Condolence: Jim and I were at OU together in the mid-50s where I found him to be a quiet but warm friend and colleague on the Oklahoma Daily. He went on to have the kind of career that made us all prund of him. I wish I could have spent more time wth hm after our retirement. My condolences to Micki and all his family and friends.

Condolence From: Karen Wilson Schmidt
Condolence: My condolences to Debbie, Mickie, Jerry, Scotlyn and Cameron, Mary and Sue. I have been recalling all of the times I went to OU sporting events with Debbie and Jim, and the times he took us to movies, swimming pool in the summer, and about anywhere else we wanted to go. There are so many fond memories I can now sit back and recall with a smile on my face. I remember Jim's incredible sense of humor and kindness while he allowed me to tag along with he and Debbie. Jim will be greatly missed, but the impact he had on so many will endure.

Condolence From: Teresa Lay
Condolence: Dear Micki,
I first met Jim when I moved here in 1997 and was on a Chamber of Commerce committee that was responsible for putting together their newsletter. He was wonderful....we never had to worry about anything...just sent him the stories and he made the rest happen. Later when visiting with him we found that we had family/friends in common, what a small world. Through the years when I would run into Jim at Wal-mart it was always great to see him and he always had that great smile that made you feel it was great to see you too. He was a great asset to our little town of Grove and he will be greatly missed by many. Please know you will be in my prayers. Teresa Lay

Condolence From: Glenn & Polly Sharp
Condolence: Dear Micki and family,
When we moved to Grove from Edmond two of the first people we met were Jim and Micki Weeks, and our thoughts were "if everyone in this community is as kind and considerate as the Weeks, it must be a great place to live"! They have continued to be good friend ever since. If you look in the dictionary for the words "gentleman" and "scholar", you'll see Jim's picture as a shining example. His service to the Rotary Club of Grove was exemplary and he was well respected by all his fellow Rotarians. He also served on the original Board of Directors of Lendonwood Gardens and helped make the transition to the wonderful asset it has become for the community of Grove. Jim's quiet leadership and integrity will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Condolence: In 1966, while I was at grad school at OU, our daughter, Cindy came home from the first grade and said, "I'm going to go to OU and I'm going to be a sportswriter. She was a classmate of Debbie Weeks. She did and she is. How he could have made such an impression on her at that age is beyond me, but he did. From '66 to '69 Jim and Mary Lyle were great neighbors. May he rest in peace.

Condolence: I have so many fond memories of Mr. Weeks, I can't narrow it to one. They all make me smile, laugh or just feel good. He inspired me to strive for a sports writing career when I was in elementary school and I was so proud to work in the same press box with him 20 years later. To Micki, I remember how happy he was to reconnect with you and to my best friend, Debbie, my heart is breaking for you and your loss. He was a great dad and I appreciate your sharing him with me when I attended OU so far from home.
