Lt. Colonel Delter Wiseman died peacefully in the loving arms of his wife Treva, on September 26, 2009 in Grove, Oklahoma. Colonel Wiseman was born on September 29, 191 in Norman, Oklahoma to Ace and Roberta Wiseman. He grew up on a farm and survived the Great Depression and the Oklahoma “dust bowl.” After graduating from Oklahoma University, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for 24 years, serving in WWII and the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Being an adventurer and traveler at heart, some areas of his military service also included Germany and Russia. He was a member of the Army Intelligence Service and served in the Pentagon. Army training included Army language school/ Russian, FASTP/ Russian (foreign area specialist training program), Columbia University / Public Law Government, and US Army Infantry School / Advance and Strategic Intelligence School.

Following his service at the Pentagon, he served as a Professor of Military Science at Oklahoma State University. His last duty assignment and major command was as USA ROTC Instructor at University of Massachusetts where he retired from Military service.

We worked at Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center in Arkansas where he retired as Assistants Administrator in 1972.

Colonel Wiseman was married to Grace Elizabeth Sease for fifty-three years and she preceded him in death in 1998. He and Grace retired to their home in Cotter, Arkansas, where he was active in civic affairs and opened a part-time saw sharpening business.

In 2000, he married Treva Bowman of Grove, Oklahoma. They lived in Cotter, Arkansas enjoying the White River and Arkansas Ozarks until June 2009 when they returned to Grove, Oklahoma.

Col. Wiseman is survive by his wife Treva, children Michael Wiseman of Welch, Oklahoma, Bruce Wiseman of Boulder City, Nevada, Patricia and John Studemann of Corners, Georgia, Cindy Wiseman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Drew Pierce of Cotter, Arkansas, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren along with two sisters Ellen Ham and Helen Thomas. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda McIntosh.

Delter was well cared for by him main sitter Cherokee Page, the team at Good Shepherd Hospice, Jessica Wethey, Lisa Bostater, and sitter Melanie Hale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 2084 South Main Street, Grove, Oklahoma 74344.

A memorial service for Lt. Colonel Delter Wiseman will be held in the great room at Integris Honey Creek Retirement Village at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 3, 2009 in Grove, Oklahoma. Fort Sill Funeral Honors Team will perform Military Rites.
