Obituary for James Edward MacDonald

James Edward MacDonald
James Edward MacDonald, son of Archie and Ruth (Lennen) MacDonald, was born June 26, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was adopted as an infant and grew up in McPherson, Kansas. At the age of 69, Jim was fortunate enough to locate his birth mother and meet his two half-sisters and half-brother (Naomi, Mary and Paul) in Idaho. Family was important to Jim, and he was blessed with a loving extended family.

Jim graduated from McPherson High School in 1957, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Kansas University in 1961. He worked for the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY, for Alexander Grant And Company in Denver, Colorado, and for The Gates Rubber Company in Colorado, Illinois and Arkansas. After 30 years of service as a Controller at Gates, he retired in 1994.

Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He shared his love and life with Linda Charlene Raymer, with whom he was united in marriage on March 12, 1971. The welfare of his family was very important to him, and he willingly gave his time and energy to make sure their needs were met.

Jim was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, and served as church treasurer in Grove, OK, Siloam Springs, AR, and Littleton, CO. He was a Kiwanis member, a volunteer at the Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center and an avid fisherman and bridge player.

Jim entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2010 at the age of 71. He passed peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Douglas MacDonald. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Grove; daughter, Laurie Ann MacDonald Brumberg (Daniel) of Washington, D.C.; son, Steven James MacDonald (Allison) of Denver, Colorado; one grandson, Gabriel Aaron Brumberg of Washington, D.C., sisters, Naomi Roberts (Leon) and Mary Thoren; and brother, Paul Kesner; one nephew, Cameron Masterson of Hutchinson, Kansas, one sister-in-law, Nancy Masterson, of Inman, Kansas, cousins in Virginia and California and many friends.
