Condolence: I just learned that Charlie P passed. I got sober in 1982 and remember when Joe & Charlie were bringing the Big Book Study to Marin County. I was unable to attend at the time. I just got the iPhone app with their Big Book Study from 1998. Wow! I should have gone 20 years ago. I have learned so much. Thank you for your life Charlie P. I hope to meet you & Joe someday.

Condolence: I attended a book study in Sacramento in 1986 at the age of 22. I did not understand step one, and because Charlie shared his story I was able to see my problem with hope for a way out. Charlie also shared his love for general service, and I have found the same gifts in serving as worker among workers. Love to the family and friends from Kristy Larsen Altadena California

Condolence: It is now July, but the sad news has only today reached this home Tennessee. My heart goes out to Mr. Parmley's family and many friends. Like many, I knew Charlie through the message that he carried with such care and humor. He helped so many that he could never know us all by name. He found a dwindling spark and fanned it into a bright torch. We gladly carry that hearty flame forward in his good memory. God Bless you and Keep you, Charlie.

Condolence: I offer my deepest condolences after reading about the passing of our friend and teacher - Charlie P. I met Charlie in June 1991 at a Big Book Seminar in New York City (St. John's University), he was there with Joe McQ. Whatever I didn't understand concerning our AA Program was clarified that weekend! I just celebrated 20 years this past February - Charlie played a big part in helping me attain that by breaking down our AA Program in simple, concise, understandable terms. God Bless Him and May He Rest In Peace. Herb K. Rockville Centre, NY.

Condolence: Thank you thank you thank you Joe and Charlie. Have Joe and Charlie closed meetings every week with my beloved Sponsor at her house with other likeminded women in Northwest, CT. Came into the rooms and stayed at age 33, just like my Sponsor. You guys (and gals) all saved my life -- I was "raised" in AA by Old Timers. Have nine years sobriety and a sponsor with 22 years. Not a retread. I give the same messages to my sponsees. Thank you and God Bless you for your message and being messengers. Blessings on your Good Souls in Heaven. Condolence From: Jane J
Condolence: I first heard Joe, Joe, and Charlie in 1991 at 4 months of sobriety. What a gift. I was struggling with my 4th step and hearing them that weekend in Pasadena simplified everything for me. I can't thank Charlie enough for his contribution to my recovery. I have since been to many other BB Comes Alive weekends with friends and sponsees and watched the light come on for them as well! How fortunate that it will continue on via tapes and CD's. I have many favorite stories that Charlie has shared at the BB weekends but my all time favorite has to be the Chunnel story. It not only touched our hearts but it obviously meant so much to him that he got all choked up when he told it. I believe what you said is true. We are the luckiest people in the world. Thanks so much for sharing what you found with us, Charlie. "Give freely of what you find and join us. We shall be with you in the fellowship of the Spirit and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny. May God bless you and keep you-- until then"

Condolence: Dear Barbara, We were shocked to hear of Charlie's death. You both have always been in our lives since 1977 when we first met. Just as Lois was instrumental in Bill's abiity to be of service to the AA community, I know that you were very much the reason that Charlie could go and do the Big Book Study all those years - the woman behind the man makes it all possible. Charlie loved the Big Book and his and Joe's sharing of it touched millions of lives. I loved teasing Charlie (as you know) and we've had lots of good laughs together. You are in our prayers as I know this is a terrible loss. Love, Hugs and prayers, Mary Pearl & JD Thompson

Condolence From: Bob B
Condolence: Charlie led me, along with Joe, through the Big Book in the early 1980's - and even though I had been in the program for 12 years, I learned so much from them - and listening to their tapes over the years has been a God send for me. Charlie helped so many of us and with the tapes - and now CDs and MP3 players, he will live forever not only in our hearts, but on our runs, workouts, it the car driving to work, and on, and on. . Based on Charlie and Joe, I have facilitated their journey through the Big Book over the years to many members of the Fellowship. With Love from a fellow Pilgrim in the Fellowship of the Journey, Bob Ballow

Condolence: Barbara, I am so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. It was a Godsend, meeting you both last summer (friend of Jay Taylor). Although listening to Charlie's tapes over the years saved my life, I have never been so inspired as I was in hearing him speak to me personally. He has touched so many lives over the years, it will be impossible to think of him as gone. God sure had some special tasks in mind for Charlie. He will be sorely missed for many years to come. I will keep you in my heart and prayers. I too know the pain of losing a wonderful husband and friend. My heart goes out to you. May you find strength, courage and peace through your own program and circle of support. Sincerely, Sue Rosinski Steelville, Missouri

Your humor, humility, your understanding of Bills early experience- is inspiring and illuminating. Thank you so much for all you offered. You used what God gave you and blessed many with your gentle and funny and beautifully aligned journey through the steps. There is no way to count how many alcoholics are sober today because of you!!!!
