Richard Leroy Abbott, 92 year old Vinita resident, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Richard was born in Welch on May 9, 1925 to Herman and Bonnie (Poe) Abbott. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. On December 9, 1946 he was united in marriage to Delila Hamilton. Richard worked as a mechanic until his retirement then drove for Pelivan for 15 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, raising sheep, and spending time with his dog and grandchildren.
Survivors include his children Linda Culp and husband Jerry of Vinita, Dickie Abbott and wife Carla of Vinita, Jack Abbott and wife Janie of Tulsa, and Lorene Wilson and husband Jim of Canyon Lake, TX, siblings: Thelma Sawyer and husband Gene of Fairland and Leon Abbott of Claremore, 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Bonnie Abbott, wife Delila Abbott, brother Carl Abbott, sister Lois Abbott, and great grandson Austin Ashepak.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery with Minister Bob Hampton officiating. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
