The family, including sisters Marilyn and Linda, moved to Nowata in 1938. They bought acreage West of Nowata and began farming cotton. Later, Mr. Gregory also started a hay baling business and also sold fresh milk in the Nowata area. Margie was a “farm girl” and worked late into the evening on the farm after attending High Prairie School and then Nowata High School, where she met the “Love of Her Life” – J.J. Riner. They were high school sweethearts, graduating in 1953 and were married October 18th, 1953 in Nowata.

J.J. served with the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. They then returned to Nowata and bought a home on S. Maple Street where they have lived since 1957. Margie worked 22 years at USDA and then retired as a rural mail carrier, delivering mail on the route that she lived on as a child. J.J. and Margie also delivered the Tulsa World newspaper for a period of 7 years.

Margie will be lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend of 64 years J.J. Riner, and their two sons John (Erin) and Mark (Jody). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Clifford (Cathy), Jacob (Bonnie), Shane Kitterman (Danielle), and Shawn Kitterman. She was also blessed with seven great-grandbabies: Jackson, Karis, Corban, William, Garrett, Leah, and Maili.
