Obituary for Helen Leona Mitchell (Hanna)
ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK (918) 336-5225 - Helen L. Mitchell, age 94 and longtime Dewey Resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, in the Forrest Manor Nursing Center, Dewey, Oklahoma.
Helen Leona Hanna was born on July 31, 1923 in Dewey. She was the daughter of William Hanna, Sr. and Lula W. (Bowman) Hanna. She grew up in Dewey where she received her education, graduating high school with her Sr. Class.
Helen and Harry K. Mitchell were united in marriage in May of 1961 and they made their home in the Lake Hudson area. Mr. Mitchell was the caretaker of the City of Bartlesville Water Supply at Lake Hudson from the time it was built in 1949 until his death in 1973. Helen became associated with Phillips Petroleum Company in the Print Shop Department where she worked for many years prior to her retirement. After retirement, Helen had continued her residence in the Lake Hudson/Dewey area.
Helen was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed many things in life, in particular, she loved to bowl. However, it was her family that gave her the most joy.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Marylin Rector and her husband, Melvin, of Dewey; her granddaughter, Christina Goad and her husband, Stony, of Dewey; her grandson, James Rector of Little Rock, Arkansas; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 1973; and her son Kenneth Patrick Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Helen’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
