Curtis Lee Edens, 74 year old Vinita resident, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017. Curtis was born on September 25, 1943 to Carlton and Stella (Sexton) Edens. On July 14, 1962 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Beavers. He owned and operated Edens Auto Salvage for numerous years. Curtis was very involved in racing. He drove in the super modified category in the late 1960’s and early 1970s. From 1970-1977 he was active in his children’s quarter midget racing. From 1978-1981 he was part of his son’s micro racing. From 1979-1980 and from 1990-1991 he owned an outlaw spirit car in which his son and other drivers raced. He was so enthusiastic about racing he even got other relatives involved in the sport. Curtis also loved to fish and earned the nickname “Catfish”. He made many lifelong friends through his years on Grand Lake. Lastly Curtis enjoyed playing cards and shared that hobby with his friends and family as well.

Survivors include his children: Curtis Edens, Jr. and wife Michelle of Sand Springs and Christine Edens of Nowata, two grandchildren: Shawn Edens and Kyle Edens, and one great grandchild Nikolai Edens, two sisters: Francis Metcalf and husband Jim of Owasso and Carla Hoag and husband Joe of Boyd, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Carolyn Edens.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the Donnie Ray Crawford Legacy Foundation 1573 S. 79th E.
